When I was in high school, I was trying to understand the meaning of creativity. I have always been inclined towards art and design, but that was the time I was trying to make sense of the word ‘creative’. I did Google it, but I still couldn’t completely comprehend it.
At that time, my art teacher told me something that is still stuck with me.
Me: How do I think creatively?
Sir: Think Different.
Me: Different meaning? It’s too vague.
Sir: Think opposite!
‘Ulta socho’ is exactly what he said and to my kiddish mind, that was something that made proper literal sense. Even today when I am stuck with a problem, I just turn it around and give it this opposite spin and I do come up with a workable solution.
I am not sure how it works for others, but I do get some perspective whenever I think the opposite.
